Refractory technologies

The operating conditions of industrial chimneys vary. Flue gas composition, flow rate and temperature are all factors which could gradually destroy a chimney without the refractory technologies available. Protecting structural shells from continuous exposure to highly corrosive acids or extreme temperatures, these linings can be constructed from brick or materials which are sprayed such as concrete and ceramics.

We undertake refractory lining projects of all scales and are able to offer clients, predominantly in the nuclear power and petro-chemical industries, a complete range of services.

Our multi-skilled and highly trained team of refractory engineers and project managers have many years experience of designing and installing lining systems for steel and brick chimneys. And as expert steeplejacks, we can also design and construct rapid, high-level mobile platforms, enabling our rope access engineers to carry out thorough inspections and make essential repairs. Therefore, we have the skills and the expertise to manage projects in their entirety, whilst providing the on-going maintenance critical to prolonging a chimney’s service life.

We have designed and installed specialist linings for power plants, refineries, chemical plants and incinerators within the UK and beyond. No contract is too large – in 2009 we undertook an RFCC project for the only petrochemical refinery that serves a West African Country.
